An Action Group has been formed in Brent Knoll to oppose the proposed development of a Windfarm between Burnham-on-Sea and Brent Knoll.
The Action Group is called “kNOll to Windfarm”, and has been created by concerned residents within the historic Somerset village of Brent Knoll, which is situated around the base of the well known landmark of the same name on the Somerset Levels, between Bristol and Taunton.
It is holding a “by invitation” meeting for local residents at the Brent Inn, Brent Knoll on the evening of Tuesday 1st November in order to set out what it hopes to achieve, how it will seek to assist those potentially affected by the proposals, and to listen to current concerns.
Local residents have already raised a number of concerns to the Group including the potential
impact of the Proposals.
The Action Group wishes to ensure that a robust debate is held concerning the potential impact of the proposals through clearly making a strong case against the Proposals.
It will seek to achieve this through attempting to make everyone aware of the proposals, researching the issues associated with such developments and making this research available to concerned parties, lobbying local, regional and national politicians and making formal representations to the Planning Authorities.
The Group comments
“Naturally people are very concerned about the potential impact of such a scheme, which is close to residential areas and social amenities including a Primary School, as well as being sited in a highly visible location within a historic landscape.
When people search the Web for information on such developments elsewhere in the UK and the Rest of the World, and see that concerns are raised about the Health implications of such schemes, the negative effects on local economies, noise generation, can see the huge visual impact, and also see the power generating merits of such schemes questioned, it is not surprising they are worried, and want to know more.”
